Image Processing Techniques for Video Content Extraction

The main motivation for extracting the content of information is the accessibility problem. A problem that is even more relevant for dynamic multimedia data, which also have to be searched and retrieved. While content extraction techniques are reasonably developed for text, video data still is essentially opaque. Its richness and complexity suggests that there is a long way to go in extracting video features, and the implementation of more suitable and effective processing procedures is an important goal to be achieved. This paper describes some of the basic image processing techniques offered by videoCEL, a toolkit for video content extraction, which makes available several commonly used abstractions and can be used by distinct applications.
